The Journey That Built Brighter Websites
Summary
I started Brighter Websites to fix what I saw too often, great businesses held back by websites that didn’t perform. My story blends creativity, tech, and strategy, leading to the ALTC Framework, which helps regional brands stay visible in the AI search era.
From Passion Project to Purpose-Driven Strategy
Brighter Websites started with a love of building things online, websites, forums, communities, and a drive to turn that passion into something that helps other people shine.
My journey began as a teenager, hand-coding my first website for my dad’s martial arts school and the Taekwondo State Association state association in Dreamweaver and raw HTML. I even recreated his logo pixel by pixel from an embroidered patch on our uniforms. Not long after, I launched TKD Talk, a national Taekwondo forum that grew to 100+ active users a week, all before Facebook or Reddit existed.
I didn’t set out to be an entrepreneur. I just loved technology. I loved creating digital spaces people actually used.
That mindset, to make things better, simpler, more useful, has stayed with me ever since.
Learning the Hard Way And the Long Way
Over the years, I kept creating websites for bands, sporting clubs, and small businesses. I never advertised; people just knew I could fix things that didn’t work.
Even while working in IT as a project manager, I was the one people called when something broke, a website, a system, anything technical. When things weren’t black and white, I could make sense of the grey and find a solution that worked.
Later, when I co-owned a café in Brisbane, I found the same rhythm again, building systems, managing digital marketing, and shaping a cohesive brand. That experience taught me the value of good design, consistent communication, and strategic thinking, even in industries far removed from tech.

After we sold the café and moved to regional Victoria, I spent time managing short-stay accommodation properties. It wasn’t my dream work, but it sharpened my understanding of operations, customer experience, and the power of good systems, all lessons that would later shape how I build digital infrastructure for clients.
Coming Back to What I Love
In 2022, after returning to Brisbane to be closer to my son, I finally made the decision to turn what I loved doing into a full-time business. I’d been building and fixing websites for decades, but now, I wanted to do it properly: with structure, strategy, and purpose.
Around that time, I joined an online business community and began refining what “success” looked like for service-based businesses. What I realised was simple, I didn’t need to be a big agency. I just needed to be reliable, results-focused, and human.
That’s when Brighter Websites was born, the business that lets me bring everything together: the tech, the creativity, the marketing strategy, and the care.
The Turning Point: When Traditional SEO Broke
As I built more websites, one problem became impossible to ignore:
traditional SEO stopped working.
Even great websites with solid content weren’t showing up. Search results were flooded with copycat content, thousands of businesses saying the same thing in slightly different ways.
Visibility became a race to publish more, not prove more.
That was the moment I started experimenting. I needed a way to show real authority, not just through links or keywords, but through structure, experience, and proof.
That search for something better led me to develop what became The Authority-Led Topic Clusters™ Framework (ALTC).
The ALTC Framework: The Strategy That Changed Everything
I built ALTC because keyword research had become meaningless in mature, competitive markets.
There were 100,000 sites saying the same thing, zero differentiation.
So I flipped the model: instead of clustering keywords, I started clustering authority signals, experience, results, process, and proof. That approach became the core of the ALTC Framework, a practical way to make Google’s E-E-A-T principles work in real life.
“It’s not about publishing more. It’s about proving more.”
By focusing on authority anchors, measurable proof points that build trust, I started seeing clients regain visibility in AI-driven search results, even when competitors had bigger budgets or stronger backlinks.
ALTC was born out of frustration but evolved into a system that genuinely works.
It’s how I help clients create content architectures that survive algorithm chaos and stay visible in the AI search era.
The Principles That Shape Every Project
Brighter Websites exists to make digital marketing feel easier, not harder. I design and build websites that work harder than they look, fast, findable, easy to manage, and ready for what’s next.
Every project blends data, design, and proof, creating infrastructure that keeps working even as algorithms change.
I’m not an agency, and I don’t want to be.
You work directly with me, no account managers, no offshore handovers, just straight, strategic, honest collaboration.
Brighter Websites exists to prove that small businesses don’t need big teams to achieve big results, just the right systems, the right strategy, and a partner who cares about the outcome.
- Infrastructure First Build systems that perform under pressure, not tactics that expire with trends.
- Strategic Before Building Execution without positioning doesn’t create momentum, it creates noise. We clarify what your business needs to be known for before building around it.
- Proof Beats Persuasion Trust is earned through evidence, not clever language. Every project includes tangible proof systems that validate your expertise.
- Websites as Working Assets Your website should function like a growth engine, not a brochure. Structure, performance, and accountability drive every design decision.
- Transparency Always No inflated metrics, no jargon, no hidden costs. Just clear communication and measurable results.
Shaping What’s Next for Regional Business
From a teenager coding a martial arts site to a strategist helping businesses thrive in the AI search era, the journey has come full circle.
Brighter Websites isn’t just about web design; it’s about building digital infrastructure that lasts.
Every project is personal, every system is strategic, and every result adds to a growing library of proof, your success story and mine.
